Syscob Admin Guide:  Introduction and Contents

Introduction and Contents

This guide provides basic information about Syscob Export-It and Export-It Plus applications for Windows®.

Intended Audience

This guide is intended to be read and used by anyone installing, configuring or updating the Syscob Export-It or Export-It Plus applications.  It does not require extensive Windows® “administration” expertise to understand the concepts or to perform most actions related to operation, administration & maintenance [OA&M] tasks.  However, some knowledge of the Windows® environment may be required for the specific edition(s) of Windows® software in use at a particular site.

If any material in this guide is unclear, or if assistance is required performing any particular task related to the Export-It or Export-It Plus applications, then contact Syscob Support via email or by telephone on (03) 9731 0762 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM AEST, excluding holidays).  Our staff will supply detailed written instructions in response to email queries or will lead the caller through the operation on the telephone.

Scope of Guide

This guide is intended to clarify the Microsoft Windows® environment for use of Syscob applications.  This includes user privileges, file access permissions, disk drive usage and other security-related requirements.  Because Syscob applications can be installed on a wide range of Windows® versions and editions, using various network topologies (or freestanding on a single PC) and under a number of different security environments some of the information in the guide may not apply to a specific installation.

Information in this guide is intended to be applicable to:

  • Windows® NT4, 95, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, Server 2008, Server 2008R2 and Server 2011.
  • Workstation, Server, Professional and Business (but not Home) editions.
  • NT domain, ActiveDirectory™ and local Windows security.
  • Console, terminal server (WTS, Citrix, etc.) or remote logons.
  • Domain and Workgroup [peer] networks or a freestanding PC.

See the Syscob web site (http://www.syscob.com.au) for the specific Service Pack level required for each Windows® version.

On weekdays between 8AM and 5PM Syscob Support may be contacted by telephone on (03) 9731 0762.
