Basic User Settings

There are some basic user [logon] settings which are necessary for proper operation of the Export-It (and almost any other) application.  Please ensure that every user has these basic settings:

"Location" must be Australia.  Language of "English (Australia)" is recommended, but not required.

Date format must be in Australian "day/month/year" format (not US "month/day/year") and time zone must be correct (i.e. GMT+10:00, GMT+09:30 or GMT+09:00—depending upon the physical location).

Display must be a minimum of 800x600 with 256 colors.  Higher resolution or greater color depth is also acceptable.

Keyboard should have functions keys which are enabled.  Microsoft keyboards may require a special driver to ensure "function key lock" is not active at startup.

Network, except for a stand-alone PC, must include Windows Printer and File Sharing [SMB] protocols support (e.g. NetBIOS over TCP/IP).

Failure to ensure that all Export-It users share these basic user settings can lead to problems.  For example, any user employing the wrong date format or time zone settings can confuse the software or generate confusing EDI messages (e.g. a ship "departure date" of 3 July being interpreted as 7 March by the EDI recipient).  Or a keyboard with disabled function keys resulting in an apparent inability to save table or document changes.
