Updating a DataFlex DBMS Context
After a context has been defined it may be necessary to alter the Syscob applications it includes (i.e. to add or remove Syscob Export-It or Export-It Plus from the context). Or a change in a “foreign” application, such as an update, may have altered the DataFlex DBMS environment that it uses. In such cases simply ensure that the application(s) that will be affected by the context are running correctly then “update” the existing context to match the new environment.
Switcher makes such updating of a context extremely simple. Just select the context to be updated in the left pane, so that its definition is visible in the right pane, tick or untick the Syscob application checkbox(es) if the included applications are to be altered and then press the Update button in the right pane. All of the old Registry files, “INI” files and shortcut folders shown in the right pane will be deleted and new ones created according to which application checkboxes have a tick mark in the right pane at the time of the update.
A confirmation dialog will be presented which must be answered with the Yes button to allow the update to occur. If the No button is used to answer the dialog then the selected context will not be changed in any way.
Following an update the context will remain selected in the left pane, but the right pane will list the newly created files and its checkboxes will have the updated values for application inclusion. And the “StatusBar” content will show the name of the context that was updated (along with the current date and time).
