Switching to a Defined Context
Once a DataFlex DBMS context has been defined it can be activated (i.e. all of its Registry entries, “INI” files and shortcut folders restored) by using Switcher to “switch to” that context. During the switch process any existing Registry key, “INI” file or shortcut folder that is defined in the context will first be deleted. Then those defined for the context will be created. This differs from normal Windows® copy behaviour, which replaces or adds to existing content without deleting old content that isn't replaced, because a context switch deletes all old content before setting the new context.
Switcher simplifies the process of changing DataFlex DBMS contexts. Instead of running an installer, like the “Icon & Rego” utility, to change installation settings just select the desired context in the left list then press the Switch button as in this example:

A confirmation dialog will be presented which must be answered with the Yes button to allow the switch to occur. If the No button is used to answer the dialog then the currently active context will not be affected in any way.
Following a switch the context will remain selected in the left pane and the right pane list has the files that were used to activate the context. The “StatusBar” content will show the name of the context that is now active (along with the current date and time).
