Every "platform" [computer] on which Export-It is installed must have a drive letter that contains a folder named "ExportIt" in its root directory. In the example at the right it is drive letter "L:" (because it is on a RAID drive, not the "boot" drive), but for a typical workstation drive "C:" would often be used. For best performance this should be a local hard drive, but it might be a mapped network drive if company policies place other priorities above performance.
Every Export-It user that does a logon to this platform [computer] must have "Full" file access permissions for this folder, its subfolders and files.
The folders shown as “greened out” are legacies from past versions of the application. They are no longer used, or needed, but may be present in installations where Export-It has been in use for an extended time. The ghostly red folders are only present on a platform which is capable of providing Secure EDI [SEDI] communications, they would not be present on most platforms, but they must be present on at least one machine in the installation topology.
Excluding the "Exportic" folder, which would only be present when the Syscob Export-It Plus commercial documentation application is also installed, the folders seen at the right have the following usages:
The "TMP" folder is only used for transient files during processing and is usually empty.
